RESPITE care is short-term care that offers temporary relief and reduces the risk of abuse or neglect. Respite care includes non-medical in-home care, either occasionally or regularly, or planned care during emergencies or times of crisis including a caregiver’s absence or transitioning care. Our definition of respite care includes welfare checks, transportation, and serving food. Our use of the term respite reflects that the care is temporary or a low degree of responsibility with a perceived low level of effort and resources that provide relief for caregivers. Respite does not mean the care is unimportant or trivial. The variation in the charge within the respite category reflects the amount of responsibility, effort, and resources required to provide satisfactory care.

COACHING reflects a partnership between coach and client. The coach helps the client to achieve their personal best and to produce the results the client is working towards. The variation in charge reflects the amount of preparation cost, time and effort, level of resources, and risk of performing the activity.

PERSONAL CARE is typically activity-based and includes welfare checks and community outings that go beyond the act of showing up and providing oversight. For example, performing a welfare check and providing bathing assistance or attending a community outing that requires developing activity plans or increasing responsibility while performing the activity (e.g. driving a client to the beach and taking the client into the ocean to swim). Nanny services include cooking, kitchen: cleaning pots/pans/dishes, laundry: washing/folding, medication management, bedmaking, and trash / recyclable management.

CONSULTING includes microbusiness operation process improvement, diet, and exercise assistance, and provides choices for the client with possible recommendations.  More examples: website development, evaluating an individual’s skills to perform ADLs, evaluating an individual’s activities, and determining the next goal.

I provide care that often includes a variety of services such as tutoring, homework help, Executive Function, teen and senior care, after-school care, date night care, and special needs care.

Private rates are sometimes coded RAR, that is, reduced rates for Agencies, Self Directed Services, and Care.Com clients. Please check the CODES page to better understand how I determine my billing rates. I have examples of common tasks. I charge based on the relative amount of effort, resources, and responsibility required to accomplish the task. LELM: little or no resource responsibilities. BL rates are based on a guaranteed block of hours. RD is a reduced rate for getting started, often used with new care.com clients. Please contact me so we can discuss how I may be of service.
